Phoenix Convention Center Phase 2, Jewel Box

The project gained some critical float by erecting a portion of the west exterior closure early and out of sequence –  the two glazed ‘jewel boxes’ in the photo were erected from the temporary ramp, at night, with a crane blocked level on the ramp. This minimized the time required to finish this face and eliminated a concurrent critical path.

This project started 3 months late due to delays to Phase 1, but finished on time due to captured gains to the excavation, shoring, and demolition in the early stages, and by then maintaining these gains in the follow-on work, using the maxim that “if it can be built it should be”, resulting in an overall Phase 1 + 2 on-time completion. RPMI provided full-time schedule and delay impact identification and mitigation for the GCCM on this project.
